About Small Groups

Prairie Ridge Church began with a single small group and now continues to grow and function under the same values of “community” with which it started. The small group environment fosters healthy relationships, encourages authenticity, and paves the way for spiritual growth. Ultimately, it is a medium modeled by Christ himself to grow and lead the Church.

Ridge Groups, gathering people with any expressed commonality, can take on various forms but generally maintain one or more of the following elements: testimony, Bible scripture, worship, prayer. Most groups are considered Community Groups that meet on an on-going basis, studying topical materials and/or Bible passages, growing and multiplying through the seasons. These groups strive to balance five main values: Love, Learning, Serving, Reaching out, and Leadership development. Some Ridge Groups are strictly topical and will only meet short term such as Crown Financial groups, men’s Power Groups, and book-studies. From Recreation groups to Bible studies, there are numerous Ridge Group options available to anyone interested.

The biggest part of small group life for us is the Christ centered friendships we have developed. We moved to this community knowing no one and set out just hoping to find some like minded people. What we’ve found instead are lasting friendships and a feeling of “small-togetherness” that is hard to find. For both Melissa and myself those kinds of relationships are really important, but at the same time often really hard to foster and develop. Small group has been a great avenue for us to invest the time and energy to do just that.

Being in Crown (financial small group) has been of great value to us. It was an awesome learning experience. In addition to the practical hands-on education we received, we enjoyed learning the biblical principles of handling money God’s way, and we plan to continue following these guidelines. We hope to always be part of a small group, whether leading or being a member, in our future as it is important to have fellowship and to always keep learning about God. We are glad we invested the time for this class, as we have been changed forever!
